FRCA Membership
Professional development, accountability, and mentorship for chaplains and those preparing to serve.
How Membership Works
- 1Submit your membership application and pay the one-time, nonrefundable $55 application fee.
- 2FRCA administration reviews your application. Payment does not guarantee approval.
- 3Following approval, pay the $165 initial annual membership fee, which includes the background check.
- 4Complete the required background screening and obtain current Red Cross CPR/AED certification (paid directly to the Red Cross).
Membership Fees
Initial FRCA charges total $220 ($55 application + $165 membership). CPR/AED is separate and paid directly to the Red Cross. *$38 is the stated provider amount; confirm the current course price with the Red Cross before purchase. The $165 fee is due only after application approval.
Membership Benefits
Resources and Development
Access to the ministry library, chaplaincy resources, and the FRCA Mentorship Program. Every active chaplain is assigned a mentor for professional and ministry guidance.
Professional Recognition
Eligible Active Chaplains receive registration in the Active Chaplain Directory, an official FRCA identification card, and applicable FRCA chaplain licensing or certification credentials after meeting the respective requirements.
Two Membership Pathways — One Fee Structure
Chaplain Candidate
For individuals preparing for chaplaincy through the FRCA Institute of Chaplaincy. Candidates receive appropriate membership resources and mentorship, but may not represent themselves as FRCA-licensed or certified chaplains or appear in the Active Chaplain Directory.
Active Chaplain
For approved members who have met FRCA's applicable training, background screening, CPR/AED, and credentialing requirements. Active Chaplains are eligible for the associated professional benefits and privileges.
Mentorship and Leadership
Every Active Chaplain is assigned a mentor. Ordained ministers with at least two years of active membership may be considered to mentor others upon recommendation by ordained ministers and approval by FRCA leadership. Mentor assignments and responsibilities are administered by FRCA.
FRCA membership, licensing, and certification are distinct. Payment alone does not confer professional credentials, ordination, or government licensure.
