Certification & Membership Process
Below are the required steps to become a certified FRCA Chaplain:
Step 1 — Church Endorsement
Secure formal endorsement from a local church.
(Submit with Membership Request Form.)
Step 2 — Three Letters of Recommendation
Provide three (3) professional or ministry references.
(Submit with Membership Request Form.)
Step 3 — Pastoral Recommendation
Submit one official pastoral letter of recommendation.
(Submit with Membership Request Form.)
Step 4 — Membership Application
Complete and submit the online Membership Request Form.
FRCA Registration Fee: $125.00 (Non-Refundable)

Complete and submit the Background Check Consent Form (available online).
Background Check Fee: $65.00

Step 6 — Educational Requirements
Submit verifiable proof of education from an approved chaplaincy organization

Step 7 — CPR / First Aid Certification
Successfully complete Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Blended Learning through the .
Course Fee: $37.00 (Payable directly to the Red Cross)

Step 8 — FRCA Chaplain Certification Licensing
Successfully pass the FRCA Chaplain Certification Licensing process.
- Begin Certification Review
Important Information
- All eight (8) steps must be completed in full for FRCA Chaplain Certification Licensing.
- Continuing Education is required to remain in good standing through the F.R.C.A. Institute of Chaplaincy.
- Tuition discounts are available for FRCA members.
- Ordained ministers must successfully pass the Board of Ordination Review for final approval.
