Membership & Certification Process for Existing Chaplains
Below are the required steps to join F.R.C.A. and obtain certification licensing:
Step 1 — Church Endorsement
Provide formal endorsement from a local church.
(Submit with Membership Request Form.)
Step 2 — Three Letters of Recommendation
Submit three (3) professional or ministry references.
(Include with Membership Request Form.)
Step 3 — Pastoral Recommendation
Submit one official pastoral letter of recommendation.
(Include with Membership Request Form.)
Step 4 — Membership Application
Complete and submit the online Membership Request Form.
Registration Fee: $125.00 (Non-Refundable)
Annual Renewal Fee: $65.00 (Non-Refundable, required yearly for members in good standing)

Step 5 — Background Check
Complete and submit the Background Check Consent Form (available online).

Step 6 — Educational Verification
Submit verifiable proof of education from an approved chaplaincy organization

Step 7 — CPR / First Aid Certification
Successfully complete Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Blended Learning through the .
Course Fee: $37.00 (Payable directly to the Red Cross)
- Complete CPR Certification
Step 8 — FRCA Certification Board Evaluation
Successfully pass the FRCA Certification Board evaluation process.
- Schedule Board Review
Step 9 — FRCA Chaplain Certification Licensing
Successfully complete and pass FRCA Chaplain Certification Licensing requirements.
- Begin Licensing Process
Important Information
- All nine (9) steps must be completed for FRCA Chaplain Certification Licensing.
- Ordained ministers must successfully pass the Board of Ordination Review for approval.
- Participation in the FRCA Continuing Education Program is required to remain in good standing through the F.R.C.A. Institute of Chaplaincy.
- Tuition discounts are available for F.R.C.A. members.
